The new year has been busy at Skookum Works.
We are committed to making the best solutions and offering high quality products. By constantly listening to our customers feedback, and learning from our own experiences with our products, we use that info to tweak our designs. The beauty of 3D printing is it allows us to make changes when we see a way to make our product better. After 100+ hours of designing and testing prototypes, we have four new product updates to share in January 2024.
The Knob Blocker Version 1.3 - (Release notes)
Release Date – Jan 6, 2024
What’s New - Choice of Material - Our Knob Blockers are now made with PETG
What’s fixed - Using PETG instead of ASA allows the Knob Blocker to flex around the antenna for a tighter fit, making it less likely to rise and completely block use of the channel and volume controls if caught on gear/clothing etc.
What’s improved – open slot around antenna allows for better fit, rounded edges and no large gap between guard and radio, slot for lanyard, emergency button (on applicable models.) Read more
The Hot Mic Version 1.3 - (Release notes)
Release date – Jan 6, 2024
What’s new - Choice of Material - Our Hot Mics are now made with TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethane).
What’s fixed - Using TPU instead of PETG allows the Hot Mic to easily flex over your speaker mic, then return to its original state to provide a snug fit. We take our customers feedback seriously. After hearing a few Hot Mics developed cracks when installing and removing them, we tested several new materials and landed on TPU. The inspiration for TPU came from our ski boots, which use flexible plastic to allow for flex but also to remain rigid where needed to obtain top performance.
